Art Read our Art policy here.

Art lessons take place in our well equipped atelier (art workshop) in the Coach House within the school grounds. Pupils have access to a wide variety of media - paint, clay, collage, etc. Local artists are also invited into school and older children visit art studios at senior schools.

There is great pleasure to be derived from Art and Design and, through deeper understanding and knowledge, our pupils gain access to cultural richness and diversity. There is an artist, designer and/or engineer in every child and our programmes of study enable pupils to find their niche in this subject.

The purpose of an Art and Design education is to give pupils the skills, concepts, practical and theoretical knowledge necessary for them to express their responses to ideas and experiences in a visual or tactile form. We believe that ‘every child is an artist’ and seek to inspire a love and appreciation of various forms of art and design as well as enjoyment and engagement in the creative processes for all pupils.
